Fitness enthusiast and reviewer from Madrid

The Short Version

I'm Alex Carter, based in Madrid, and over the past several years I’ve been recording my visits to gyms across Spain.

This site exists because I got tired of choosing gyms based on ads and vague recommendations, only to discover the reality differed from expectations. I wanted specific, honest information about what these places were actually like. Since I could not find it, I decided to create it.

More than a dozen Gyms Visited
A few Years Active
Over 200 Classes Attended

How This Started

My workout routine began at a small club near Training Street in Madrid. It wasn't perfect, yet it was accessible, affordable, and helped me stay consistent.

After that place closed, I noticed how quickly the fitness scene in Spain was evolving. New clubs opened, new concepts appeared, and marketing became louder than real member experience.

I began testing various gyms and classes, jotting notes after each visit. Those notes gradually became this site, created to help others choose more clearly.

My Approach to Reviews

Each review here is based on actual visits and time spent inside the facility. I concentrate on practical details that matter when selecting a membership.

When I review a fitness center, I typically:

  • Take sufficient time to understand routines, peak times, and daily patterns
  • Visit on various days and at different times
  • Try multiple training formats and coaches
  • Regularly use facilities to assess cleanliness and comfort
  • Speak with other members about consistency and inconsistencies
  • Jot down notes right after each visit

I revise reviews whenever there are major changes: renovations, changes in management, price adjustments, or new facilities. Each article displays its last update date so you know how up-to-date the information is.

What I Look For

My priorities may differ from yours, but these are the factors I consider most when assessing a gym:

Comfort and Privacy: Does the space feel genuinely well-designed for members, with respectful boundaries and a calm atmosphere?

Equipment Quality: Are machines well-maintained? Is there enough variety? Do things get fixed promptly?

Crowd Management: Can you actually train during your preferred time without waiting constantly?

Clean Facilities: Locker rooms, showers, floors, and equipment surfaces. Cleanliness shows how seriously management treats the member experience.

Honest Membership Practices: Clear pricing, clear rules, and no unpleasant surprises.

Beyond the Gym

Outside of training and writing, I live and work in Madrid. This project is here to make fitness choices easier and more transparent for people looking for the right environment.
